National TOP clinic for spinal interventions
Langensteinbacher Klinik is one of the best clinics in the field of spinal surgery nationwide according to the FOCUS clinic ranking.
A visit to the doctor is a matter of trust. If a medical intervention or a major operation is imminent, patients often inform themselves in advance in the best way possible - about the intervention, possible risks and the clinics where this intervention can be performed. Crucial for the success of an operation is the experience of the surgeons and the structural requirements of a clinic.
With over 2,200 spinal procedures, the SRH Klinikum Karlsbad-Langensteinbach is one of the most important spine centres in Germany. The spine surgery department covers the entire spectrum of modern spine surgery - from microsurgical intervention to long-distance open reconstruction or stabilization surgery. After receiving the award for National TOP Clinic for Spine Surgery 2019, this expertise is underlined once again.
Dr. Gregor Ostrowski, Prof. Dr. Tobias Pitzen and Priv. Doz. Dr. Michael Ruf is head of the spine surgery department. Dr. Gregor Ostrowski is internationally recognized for his specialization and his results in highly complex spinal interventions. Patients from all over the world are looking for his expertise. His focus is on the treatment of pronounced spinal deformities, such as kyphosis or scoliosis. He also operates on fractures, tumours and treats degenerative and inflammatory diseases of the spine and spondylolisthesis.
Prof. Pitzen focuses on the minimally invasive removal of herniated discs and bone attachments on the spine with a specialisation in the cervical spine. Dr. Ruf specialises in the correction of congenital malformations of the spine in children and adolescents. The magazine FOCUS already confirmed their nationwide reputation in 2018. For the 13th time in a row, they were awarded the TOP MEDIZINER by FOCUS.
Cross-departmental therapy approach
Together with Christian Neuhäuser, chief physician of orthopaedics and endoprosthetics, Dr. Ostrowski, Prof. Pitzen and Dr. Ruf manage the Centre for Spine Surgery, Orthopaedics, Traumatology and Endoprosthetics at the SRH Clinic Karlsbad-Langensteinbach, which is also affiliated with the Paraplegia Centre under the direction of Dr. Carl-Hans Fürstenberg.
The therapeutic approaches for spinal disorders are used across other departments. In addition to complex imaging procedures, such as the new EOS 3D full-body scan, which is only available at twelve locations in Germany, the radiology department also offers special therapy options such as cryoablation and vertebroplasty. In this minimally invasive procedure, a broken vertebra is filled with bone cement and thereby stabilised. In addition, the surgeons can call in the clinic's vascular surgeons for complex spinal surgeries in order to safely treat vital vessels.
If there is no indication for a surgical intervention, pain therapy offers an additional option to treat back pain.
